Despite a sustained campaign by Friends of Suburban Bristol Railways and other parties to restore passenger services across the entire loop, the reopened line forming part of Phase 2 of the MetroWest programme will be spur from the Filton junctions extending only as far as Henbury, with an intermediate station at North Filton to support new residential and commercial development at the site of the former Filton airfield.
